What this tool does

Document-grounded prompt

The model is instructed to use the extracted document text, but verify important answers against the source.

Ask follow-ups

Keep the questions coming โ€” every answer shows up in the chat.

Text-only free-model AI

The PDF stays local. Extracted text and your question go through Replit AI Integrations to OpenRouterโ€™s free-model router. There is no paid fallback, and free capacity can fail.

Common uses

  • Ask for a summary of a text-based PDF.
  • Find or explain a clause, topic, or passage.
  • Ask questions grounded in the extracted document text.

Processing and privacy

Browser processing: The PDF file is parsed locally and its text is extracted in the browser.

Third-party AI processing: The extracted text and question go through Replit AI Integrations to OpenRouter's free-model router. There is no paid fallback, and requests can fail when free capacity is unavailable.

Limitations to know

  • Scanned PDFs without a text layer are not supported.
  • Extraction can lose layout, tables, and reading order.
  • AI answers can be incomplete or wrong and should be checked against the document.

Keep original files where applicable, inspect the result, and do not rely on an automated output without checking that it fits your intended use.

Practical tips

  • Long doc? Ask "summarize this" first to get the lay of the land, then zoom into specifics.
  • Scanned (image-only) PDFs won't work yet โ€” the tool needs real text in the PDF.

Frequently asked questions

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?

The PDF file is parsed in your browser. Extracted text and your question go through Replit AI Integrations to OpenRouterโ€™s free-model router; the PDF is not sent. There is no paid fallback, so free capacity can fail.

Does it work on scanned PDFs?

Not yet โ€” scans are just images with no text layer. If the PDF has selectable text, you're good.
