How to use AI writing tools responsibly

Reduce the data you submit, give precise instructions, verify every result, and distinguish rewriting from fact checking.

Match the AI task to the tool

Summarization condenses supplied text; it does not independently establish that the source is true. Paraphrasing changes wording and can still alter nuance. Grammar correction targets mechanics, but names and domain-specific language still need review.

Ask Your PDF reads the file in the browser and sends extracted text for AI answers. It requires a real text layer and does not currently read image-only scans.

Tools used in this section

  • AI Summarizer — Create a short summary and key points from supplied text.
  • AI Paraphraser — Reword text with a selected tone.
  • AI Grammar Fixer — Request grammar, spelling, punctuation, and capitalization corrections.
  • Ask Your PDF — Ask questions about extracted text in a text-based PDF.

Minimize what you submit

Remove names, account numbers, credentials, health information, private conversations, and unnecessary document sections. If anonymizing would make a request ineffective, use an approved system designed for that data instead.

Treat generated text as a draft. AI can omit qualifications, introduce unsupported details, or produce plausible-looking errors.

  1. Define the task and the audience.
  2. Remove sensitive and irrelevant input.
  3. Generate a draft with specific constraints.
  4. Compare the result with the source line by line where accuracy matters.
  5. Verify facts, citations, calculations, names, and code independently.
  6. Rewrite the final output in your own accountable voice.

Generated code needs tests

A regular expression can match the examples shown and still fail on production edge cases or perform poorly on hostile input. Test accepted and rejected cases in the same regex engine used by the application before shipping.
