Images tool
Image Compressor & Converter
Shrink file size and convert formats locally, no crumbs.
Compress and convert JPEG, PNG, and WebP images in your browser, including batch processing.
How to use Image Compressor & Converter
- Yeet one or more images into the zone 🖼️✨
- Slide the quality and pick your output format.
- Download the optimized pics. Left no crumbs.
What this tool does
Client-side processing
Uses browser Canvas APIs to process selected images locally.
Batch mode
Cook multiple images at once and grab a ZIP (or each one solo). W efficiency.
Before/After preview
See exactly how much space you saved. Receipts included 🫡
Common uses
- Reduce image size before web upload or email.
- Batch-convert JPEG, PNG, and WebP assets.
- Compare output size and appearance before download.
Processing and privacy
Browser processing: Images are decoded and re-encoded with browser Canvas APIs; selected files are not uploaded for compression.
Limitations to know
- Lossy output can introduce artifacts, especially at low quality.
- Canvas decoding may discard metadata, animation, or unsupported color-profile detail.
- Savings depend on the source format and content.
Keep original files where applicable, inspect the result, and do not rely on an automated output without checking that it fits your intended use.
Examples
Compare WebP without inventing a savings claim
Input: Add a JPEG photograph, select WebP at 80%, and wait for the Before and After sizes.
Output: Download only after inspecting the preview and measured byte count. If re-encoding is not smaller, the tool keeps the original bytes and says “already optimized” rather than claiming savings.
Preserve transparency
Input: Add a transparent PNG and select PNG or WebP.
Output: Inspect transparent edges in the preview and downloaded file. Do not select JPEG when transparency is required because JPEG export fills the canvas white.
Practical tips
- Converting to WebP usually gets you way smaller files than JPEG with basically the same quality. Sneaky W.
Frequently asked questions
Why does PNG not compress as much?
PNG is lossless, so it's built different. This tool mostly saves space by converting to WebP or lossy JPEG — that's where the real gains live.
